netflix cancelling their most diverse shows (see sense8, one day at a time, the get down) with the excuse that not enough people have watched them is ridiculous because they made no effort in actually promote them. i have never heard of one day at a time until people on tumblr started talking about the possibility of it not being renewed. they could have promote it if they wanted. e.g. i’ve seen ads for the umbrella academy MONTHS before it aired and there are still advertising boards all over the city i live in. they did the same with 13 reasons why. but i’ve never seen anything about sense8 or odaat or tgd. so when they really want a show to be seen they know what to do.
